The mechanism of action of Diclofenac: Diclofenac belongs to a group of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which work by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, thereby inhibiting prostaglandin formation. It also prevents the aggregation/activation of neutrophil cells, inhibits the movement of cells causing inflammation, reduces the level of cytokines that cause inflammation, and alters the activity of lymphocyte cells.
