Voltaren Emulgel is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic preparation for topical use. Its active ingredient is equivalent to 1% of diclofenac sodium. It is easy to massage this white, creamy, non-oily preparation and absorb it into the skin, and its water-alcohol base provides a soothing and cooling effect. Experiments have proven that diclofenac inhibits the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, which is an important factor in its mechanism of action. It has also been proven that Voltaren Emulgel relieves pain, reduces swelling caused by fluid accumulation, and shortens the time needed to restore normal function, especially in inflammations resulting from rheumatism or trauma. Voltaren Emulgel is used in the treatment of the following conditions: topical forms of soft tissue rheumatism, such as tendon and sheath inflammation, shoulder and hand syndrome, bursitis, and periarticular disorders; localized rheumatic diseases, such as osteoarthritis of the spine and peripheral joints; inflammation following trauma to tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints, such as sprains, muscle or tendon strains, or bruises. How to use: Depending on the size of the painful area to be treated, use 2 to 4 grams, ranging from the size of a cherry to a walnut, or enough to cover an area between 400 and 800 square centimeters. This amount should be applied 3 to 4 times daily on the affected area and gently massaged. The duration of treatment depends on the reason for use and the patient’s response. Warnings and precautions: Contraindications: allergy to diclofenac, acetylsalicylic acid, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as isopropranolol or propylene glycol. Precautions: Voltaren Emulgel should be applied to healthy skin and not on cracked or open wounds. The preparation should not contact the eyes or mucous membranes. Pregnancy: During the first three months and the following three months, animal studies have shown no risks to the fetus. For the last three months of pregnancy, Voltaren Emulgel should not be used due to the risk of premature closure of the ductus arteriosus and reduced uterine contractility. Components: Each 100 grams of Voltaren Emulgel contains the active substance, diclofenac diethylamine, equivalent to 1 gram of diclofenac sodium, as well as propylene glycol and odor-enhancing agents.
