Vitamin B9, also called folic acid, or folates, folic acid is an effective treatment for macrocytic anemia caused by folate deficiency, as observed in cases of anemia resulting from malnutrition, increased need during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is taken according to the doctor's instructions. Contraindications: allergy to folic acid. Warnings: Folic acid alone is not sufficient to treat pernicious anemia and other types of macrocytic anemia involving vitamin B12 deficiency. Caution should be exercised when giving folic acid to patients with folate-related tumors. The levels of anticonvulsant drugs such as phenobarbital, phenytoin, and primidone in plasma may decrease with the presence of folic acid. It is tightly closed and stored in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius, away from light. This medication should not be used after the expiration date printed on the package. Each tablet contains 1 mg of folic acid. Other ingredients: corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, cross-linked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, pure talc.
