Atorvastatin tablets 20 mg packaged Why is Atorvastatin used: Atorvastatin is used to lower the fats known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when a low-fat diet and lifestyle changes fail to do so on their own. If you are at increased risk of heart disease, Atorvastatin can also be used to reduce this risk even if your cholesterol levels are normal. Do not take Atorvastatin: • If you are allergic to Atorvastatin or any other ingredients of this medicine • If you have or have had liver disease • If you have any unexplained abnormal blood tests for liver function • If you are a woman capable of pregnancy and do not use reliable contraception • If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant • If you are breastfeeding • If you are using a combination of Gileadprevir / Paritaprevir in hepatitis C treatment Precautions and warnings: Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before taking Atorvastatin: • If you have severe respiratory failure • If you are taking or have taken in the past seven days a medicine called Fosfomycin • If you have had a previous stroke with brain hemorrhage • If you have kidney problems Possible side effects: Like all medicines, this drug can cause side effects, although they do not occur in everyone. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking your tablets immediately and inform your doctor or go to the nearest emergency department: • Severe allergic reaction • Serious illness with severe peeling and swelling of the skin • Muscle weakness Other medicines and Atorvastatin: Some medicines may change the effect of Atorvastatin or vice versa. • Medicines used to modify your immune system • Some antibiotics or antifungal medicines • Other medicines to regulate fats • Some calcium channel blockers used in angina or high blood pressure • Lermovir • Medicines used in HIV treatment and hepatitis C treatment How to take Atorvastatin: The usual starting dose of Atorvastatin is 10 mg once daily for adults and children aged 10 years or older. Take the full tablets of Atorvastatin with a glass of water, and they can be taken at any time of the day, with or without food. However, try to take the tablet at the same time each day. How to store Atorvastatin: Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the package and outer container after {EXP}. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. This medicine does not require any special storage conditions. Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater or household waste.
